Beginning in August, our church newsletter, the Moravian Star, will be e-mailed to those who have such capabilities. If you have e-mail, please make sure the church office has your address on file. “ZINZENDORF CUP” GOLF EVENT
The 9th annual Zinzendorf Cup Golf Tournament, hosted this year by Clemmons Moravian Church, will be held on Friday, July 18th, at Oak Valley Golf Course. Lunch will begin at 12:00 noon, and the tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. The cost per person is $60.00 and includes green fee, cart fee, lunch and prizes. This is a four-person captain’s choice event with prizes awarded for lst, 2nd, and 3rd teams, closest to the pins, longest drive (#12 hole), and longest putt to hole (#18). 25 teams can be accommodated, so don’t delay in registering. To register, contact Clemmons Moravian Church. (If you are unable to participate in the tournament, please think about becoming a sponsor. Sponsorships are available for $100.00 (Master Sponsorship), $50.00 (Open Sponsorship), and $25.00 (Club Sponsorship).
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Our Vacation Bible School for pre-school and elementary children will be held on July 27th (4:00 to 6:30 p.m.) and July 28 & 29 (6:00 to 8:00 p.m.). If you would like to assist, please contact Rebecca Greiner, Marie Nodine, or Joyce Vance. Help is needed with food, games, leading groups, etc. Programs will be held for both children and adults, and a simple meal will be provided.
MEN’S BROTHERHOOD BREAKFAST
Due to this being a holiday week-end, the Men’s Brotherhood Breakfast will be held on Sunday, July 13th…at 8:30 a.m. All men are invited to attend.
“SHEPHERD’S TABLE” EVENT
There will be a “Pot Luck” Luncheion sponsored by the Shepherd’s Table on Sunday, July 13th, following Worship. For details please contact Ashley Gilliam (704-301-6728) or Sylvia Lohr (704-541-8703). Dessert and drinks will be furnished by the Gilliam and Lohr families.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT
Participants in this year’s VBS will have the opportunity to assemble health/hygiene kits for Church World Service to distribute in places of disaster around the globe. Please consider contributing the following items for the kits. Place you contributions in the basket in the Fellowship Hall.
- One hand towel measuring approximately 16” x 28” (no fingertip or bath towels).
- One washcloth.
- One wide-tooth comb.
- One nail clipper (no metal files or emery boards).
- One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper).
- One toothbrush (in original packaging).
- Six Band-Aids.
BAZAAR WORKSHOPS
Bazaar Workshops will resume this Tuesday (July 1st) at 7:00 p.m. in the Barn.
ANNUAL LAUREL RIDGE RETREAT
The dates for our annual retreat to Laurel Ridge are August 1st through 3rd, 2008. Rooms have been reserved in the new Salem Wing and the older Bishop’s Wing. A sign-up sheet, with prices, is now posted in the Fellowship Hall. WE HAVE FIVE (5) ROOMS THAT WILL HAVE TO BE PAID FOR BY THE CHURCH IF THEY GO UNUSED. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The church grounds are in need of more volunteers for cutting, trimming grass, and weeding. WHAT DOES A STEPHEN MINISTER DO? He/she offers distinctively Christian care to those who are hurting and/or feeling the pain of life experiences such as: illness, family issues, loneliness, chronic illness, loss of a loved one, divorce/separation, newborn children, terminal illness, loss of job, relocation, financial issues, aging, faith struggles, etc. Stephen Ministers care, listen, encourage, maintain confidence, pray, and support those feeling pain and hurt from the routine and natural experiences of life. LOAVES & FISHES
Suggested food item donation for the month of July 2008 is canned meat items (beef stew, tuna, chicken, etc.). Please bring your contributions of these items to the Fellowship Hall and place them in the collection cart. Thank you for caring about others!
CHURCH CALENDAR
Please make sure that all activities and events are put on the “official church calendar” which is kept in the church office. Call the church secretary, Janet (704-759-9939), to schedule your event so there will be no confusion or conflicts with our program scheduling.
